Happy Valentine's Day

This year, I decided to try something new. Instead of cookies, candy, and little valentine cards (which in my opinion, mean very little to a 2 or 3 year old), I decided to keep it simple in our classroom. We talked about love and friendship. We talked about the people in our lives who loves us, why they love us, and how much we love them. Finally, we made gifts for the people that we love most.

It was such a success. The kids left calm and happy. They left feeling loved.

I will post photos of their completed gifts in a day or so.

As a final note, I highly recommend, "Hugs and Kisses," by Christophe Loupy and Eve Tharlet. This is a great book for preschoolers about how a child loves his mother. We read the book twice and it held the attention of every classmate the entire time. My older children were even able to have a great discussion about the love they have for their parents afterward.
